The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Uganda Embassy in Beijing- China coordinated and participated in the China (Changsha) -Uganda Investment Economic and Trade Promotion Event that was held today 25th April 2023 at the Serena Kampala Hotel.
H.E. Oliver Wonekha, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the People’s Republic of China today the 24th April 2023 presented her credentials to H.E Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China. The ceremony took place at the Great Hall of China.
On April 17, 2023, H.E Oliver Wonekha, Uganda's Ambassador to China visited Jinda Coffee and Beverage Center in Guangdong Province and participated in the roasting, cupping, and tasting sessions of Uganda coffee. Coffee exports to China are expected to increase in 2023 with more collaboration between Ugandan and Chinese companies.
In her remarks, H.E Oliver Wonekha informed that she would work together with Jinda Coffee to take advantage of the Chinese market.
The GoU @DCIC has scheduled to officially launch the passport enrollment centre at the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijingon 2nd May 2023.
The centre will serve Ugandans living and working in China and near-by countries. Hence, forth from the launch, all applicants will be required to schedule appointments for enrollment at the Embassy.

H.E Oliver Wonekha paid a courtesy call on the H.E Xu Zhengxian, Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial Provincial Government. The two Execellencies discussed ways of blostering bilateral relations in agreed areas of cooperation.
H.E Oliver Wonekha had fruitful discussions with Ms. Cyci from International Trade Center Changsha, Overseas Home China-Africa cooperation center and agreed to work together to promote Uganda coffee and increase exports to China.
Overseas home is already importing coffee beans from Uganda and pledged to increase imports of coffee and other agricultural products from Uganda.
On 21st March 2023, H.E Amb. Oliver Wonekha held a meeting with Mr. Shen Yumou, Director General of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province.
The two discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral interest to the two countries including the Upcoming China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo that is scheduled from June 29th to July 2nd, 2023. Representatives from the government and Private sector will participate in the forum.
They agreed that in April 2023, Hunan Government will lead a delegation of business people to Uganda.
On 20th March 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in China Participated at the 2023 China-Africa Coffee Industry Cooperation Forum. Uganda was among the five African countries selected to participate.
The event was organised by China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council (CAETP) and sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province with Support from ITC.
Participants included government officials from Hunan Province, coffee importers, coffee store owners, processors, stakeholders, influencers, media among others.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Ms Oliver Wonekha, has today, Thursday 16th March 2023, received H.E. Mr. Tefera Derbew Yimam, The Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the People’s Republic of China, who paid a courtesy call on her at her Office in Beijing.
On 28th Feb 2023, H.E Ambassador Oliver Wonekha hosted a delegation of 17 Chinese enterprises from various parts of China with interest to invest in various sectors of Ugandas Economy. The meeting rook place at the Ugandan Embassy in China. During the meeting, presentations of Uganda`s investment opportunities and showcasing Uganda`s tourism potential was made.
H.E informed the meeting that the Republic of Uganda and the People’s Republic of China have enjoyed warm and cordial relations over the past 60 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations.
