EMBASSY OF UGANDA BEIJING HOSTS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF UNAIDS

On July 8th, 2024, The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijing, in conjunction with the UNAIDS office in Beijing, hosted a reception for Ms. Winnie Byanyima, the Executive Director of UNAIDS, together with African students in China. Other guests included the Ambassadors from Malawi, Kenya, and Nigeria and representatives from UN Agencies in China.

UGANDAN SHINES AT THE HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION 2023-2024

Students from various Universities in Uganda participated in the Huawei ICT completion 2023-2024. They received several awards, including the second Prize in Women in Tech, the First Prize in Network Track, and the overall Grand prize in Network Track. HE, Oliver Wonekha, the Ambassador, of Uganda to China, attended the award ceremony and awarded the grand prize to the Ugandan team.

TOURISM PROMOTION IN CHINA

On 20th May 2024, HE, Oliver Wonekha, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to China met with Dr. Dai Bin, president of China Tourism Academy in Beijing, also affiliated with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of China. The two leaders extensively discussed the promotion of Ugandan Tourism in China. Dr. Daibing will lead a delegation of 10 Tour companies to Uganda in August 2024 and will also attend the Forum on Tourism.

ENHANCING AGRICULTURAL COOPERATION: STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN UGANDA AND CHINA

On 10 April, a technical term from the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries led by Hon Rose Kagenyi paid a courtesy call to the Uganda Embassy in Beijing. The team is in China under the Sout-South Cooperation Phase 3, which is designed to enhance cooperation between Uganda and China in the field of agriculture.  This collaboration demonstrates a commitment to mutual learning and sharing of agricultural best practices between the two countries.

On 18th Oct 2023, the delegation headed by the Executive Director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) and CNOOC(U) paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to China. The delegation briefed the Ambassador about Uganda's oil sector. The Ambassador welcomed the delegation to the Embassy and briefed them about the work that the Embassy did and the continued interest of Chinese companies in investing in Uganda.
