Uganda Embassy in Beijing Woos Chinese Tourists To Visit Uganda.

Uganda’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China and DPRK, on Friday 13th January 2023 was hosted by Hainan TV to a Culture and Tourism Promotion Program “connections” which took place at Hainan TV.

“CONNECTIONS " is a high-end cultural interview program hosted by Ms. Mei Qing with cultural experts. It involved talking to Ambassador Oliver Wonekha, to introduce Uganda's regional landscape, cultural traditions, and food characteristics to Chinese audiences. 

Ambassador Oliver Wonekha in her remarks encouraged the Chinese nationals to take advantage of the propitious Tourism climate and various cultures in Uganda. She added that Uganda has got a number of Tourist attractions for instance, The National Parks such as Murchison falls, Queen Elizabeth, then the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Victoria largest freshwater lake in the world, River Nile, which is the longest river in the world, the Kasubi tombs where the Buganda kings were buried, the Equator lining and its mysteries of 0 degrees rotation.

Uganda has 53.9% of the world’s population of mountain Gorillas mainly found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park located in the Southwestern part of the Country, Uganda has over 1000 species of birds, which is 52% of Africa’s species and 11% of the world’s wild species. Kibale National Park is called the world capital of primates.

She expounded on reasons that make Uganda the preferred Tourist destination in the region, including Peace and Stability, as well as welcoming and hospitable people, etc.

In terms of Cultures, H.E. noted that Uganda has got 53 tribes with different Cultures. She highlighted the differences between the tribes and the different cultures practiced for instance the Ankole rear Ankole cattle and the circumcision of young boys into adulthood among the Bagisu among others. She also remarked about the barkcloth of Uganda and what makes it very special.

Ambassador Oliver also promoted Uganda’s products including Uganda’s Coffee as the best coffee in the world due to a number of factors such as favorable climate conditions and it is organic. She reiterated that Uganda’s coffee is also used to flavor other coffees.

She concluded by calling upon Chinese Tourists to consider visiting Uganda as their number one Tourist Destination in 2023 considering that Uganda was named one of the Top Tourist destinations to visit in 2023(CNN report January 2023).
