MEETING BETWEEN HON JEJE ABUBAKAR ODONGO AND MR LUO ZHAOHUI

On July 9, 2023, Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Director General of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met with Hon Jeje Abubaker Odongo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda and Ugandan Ambassador to China H.E Oliver Woneka, and Regional Director Bai Bin, who attended the first high-level meeting of the Global Shared Development Action Forum in China. 

Mr. Luo Zhaohui welcomed Hon. Odongo to attend the meeting in China, saying that since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago, China and Uganda have always supported and cooperated closely with each other in international affairs and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields. 

China always regards Uganda as an important cooperative partner. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China is willing to jointly promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative, accelerate the implementation of the "nine projects" of China-Africa cooperation in Uganda, and continuously elevate the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new level. 

Hon Odongo in his remarks sincerely thanked China for its long-term assistance and support to Uganda, which has played an important role in promoting Uganda’s economic and social development. He reiterated Ugandas willingness to actively participate in and support global development initiatives, work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen cooperation in various fields and achieve common development.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
