Uganda Embassy in Beijing Ushers in 2026 in Style with “Enkuuka 2025” Celebration alongside the Ugandan Diaspora in China
The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Beijing joyfully ushered in the New Year 2026 together with the vibrant Ugandan Diaspora community in China during the Enkuuka 2025 End-of-Year Celebration, held at the Kempinski Beijing Yansha Centre on 31 December 2025. The event was held under the theme:
“Building Synergies for Personal Growth and National Development.”
The colourful celebration brought together members of the Ugandan community for an evening of unity, reflection and festivity. The programme featured welcome remarks, a keynote address, rich Ugandan cultural showcases, poetry recitals, fashion displays, music, dance performances, and engaging games. Guests also enjoyed a festive dinner and a joyful midnight countdown, symbolising unity, hope and renewed commitment to community strength and national pride.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Embassy and the Government of Uganda, Mrs. Bernadette Mwesige Ssempa, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., commended the Ugandan community in China for its resilience, unity and professionalism.
“The Ugandan diaspora in China remains a resilient and united force, proudly carrying Uganda’s identity abroad. Your contributions—through investment, skills transfer and positive representation—are vital to Uganda’s national development,” Mrs. Ssempa said.
She underscored the strategic role of the diaspora in national development and encouraged sustained engagement, investment, and knowledge exchange with Uganda.
“As we enter 2026, I encourage all Ugandans in China to continue building strong synergies among yourselves and with Uganda, so that together we can advance personal growth, national progress and shared prosperity,” she added.
A major highlight of the evening was the Awards and Recognitions Ceremony, which honoured outstanding Ugandans for excellence, leadership and exceptional contribution to the community. The ceremony celebrated individuals whose dedication has strengthened unity, promoted Ugandan values, and positively represented the country in China.
The Embassy applauded the diaspora’s unity, resilience and achievements, and extended warm New Year greetings to all Ugandans in China. It expressed renewed optimism for peace, progress, partnership and shared prosperity in 2026, while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening diaspora engagement, promoting Ugandan culture, mobilising investment, and advancing people-to-people diplomacy
