Passport Renewal And E-Passport Application Procedure

What is required of the Applicant?

  1. Proceed to the online Passport Application: https://passports.go.ug/

  2. Click the Start New Application link to start a new application.

  3. Accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer and answer simple security questions.

  4. Complete the passport application form.

  5. Print the Passport Application Payment Advice Form.

  6. Make Payment for the selected type of Passport using the selected payment method.

    In case you can not make payment online, you may request someone physically in Kampala to help with the payment for you by providing them with your PRN codes.

        ? The fee for an Ordinary passport is UGX 250,000/= plus UGX 10,000 for Beijing courier fees. 

  7. Download and complete the Passport Interview Record Form. 

  8. Make an appointment by sending an email to

What materials are required by Mission Staff?

  1. The Consular Officer conducts the interview and records the results on the Passport Interview Record Form. 

  2. The Passport Interview Record Form is signed by the applicant and the interviewing officer.

Applicants without National Identity Cards?

Government is aware that a number of Ugandans in the Diaspora have not acquired National ID cards since the registration has not rolled out to all areas. Therefore, an applicant who has not yet acquired a National ID will not be required to provide his/her National Identification Card.

What next?

  1. The Enrollment Officer at MIA enrolls and scans the Interview Record Forms and the relevant attachments for passport processing.
  2. The Passport shall be dispatched by courier back to the respective Mission.
